FAQ

  • Please let me know via email, call, or text at least 24 business hours before needing to cancel or reschedule; otherwise, you will be billed the full session fee to the card required to be kept on file. If we can find another time to meet that works for both of us during that same week, no cancellation fee will be incurred.

Appointment hours are Monday through Friday, 7 am to 4 pm PST, excluding federal holidays, Christmas Eve, and the Friday following Thanksgiving.

  • After 5 minutes have passed, I will email or text you inquiring if you’re running late or need to reschedule. If you have not responded or joined the session after an additional 5 minutes, the session will be ended.

  • Although I treat a wide range of clinical issues, I am particularly passionate about working with high-achieving women who struggle with self-esteem, are recovering from the trauma of domestic violence, or struggle with high-functioning anxiety or depression. I believe everyone is capable of change, and I strive to help individuals achieve a better balance in their relationships, work, and home life. I will create space for the intersectionality of your many identities and roles. Therapeutically, I will utilize many evidence-based treatments in our work to identify patterns that may be holding you back from whatever you are trying to achieve and working towards.  Together, we will examine these patterns and their origins and develop new ways for you to move through your life as your most authentic self.

  • All of our conversations are protected under state and federal privacy regulations. However, there are instances required by law in which I may need to break confidentiality and disclose information necessary to a third party. These situations include imminent danger to yourself or others, as well as child, elder, or dependent adult abuse, court orders, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. We will go over the limits to confidentiality during your first visit.

  • Before your first appointment, you’ll receive all necessary paperwork and policies via a secure email link to be completed prior to your first teletherapy session. The first 1-3 sessions will largely focus on getting to know you, learning more about what brings you in, and developing initial treatment goals.

  • Your needs, goals, and history will influence how long you will likely be in therapy. During therapy, new areas of focus are often identified and addressed. Weekly sessions are recommended to ensure a strong therapeutic alliance is established and progress towards goals is consistent, but in some cases, less frequent attendance may be appropriate.

  • Therapy appointments cost $250 each; the initial intake is $300. Psychological assessments typically range from $1500-$4,000, depending on the purpose of the assessment. Additional work Dr. Wilson may engage in, including consulting and additional paperwork requests, is billed at her $250 hourly rate.

  • Currently, I am accepting Aetna and Optum through Alma.

  • Psychological assessments are typically divided into several sessions. Depending on the circumstances, the testing session itself may be split into two appointments. The last session is the feedback session, during which the assessment results are provided.

  • Therapy sessions typically last for 53 minutes, but the duration may vary depending on the type of therapy and the client's needs.

  • Currently, Cal Psych Assessments is primarily offering virtual sessions for therapy and assessment; however, in-person therapy and assessment can be arranged for individuals in the Greater Los Angeles/ Inland Empire region if deemed clinically necessary. Many people choose virtual options for convenience, time, and comfort. By offering online therapy, people can more easily access mental health services. Research demonstrates that virtual therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. Remote services offered through Cal Psych Assessments are HIPAA compliant and protect your privacy.

  • I have found that it is hard to get a read on therapeutic fit from a 10-15-minute phone call. At the first appointment, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, and if you decide I am not a good fit, I can provide you with alternative providers. It is important to remember that by making an appointment, you are signing up just for that—one appointment! There is no additional commitment if you do not want to continue.

The exception is for psychological evaluations. Before scheduling, a 15-minute consult phone call will be required to determine appropriate referral questions and fit.
